IPA is an alcohol-based chemical agent designed to remove oil and residue from painted surfaces.
After machine polishing, it is useful to spray a mix of IPA onto the paint to fully remove any traces of polish and oil residues from the compound. IPA stripes back the residues that can fill and mask minor imperfections showing the actual condition of the paint.
It is also very useful to use IPA before applying a sealant or wax to allow the subsequent layers to fully bond, giving increased durability to the finished product.
